Special Pricing

I hope you have been able to take advantage of the various price reductions that I have arranged for The Fairies of Carlow series. Some of the deals are for everyone and some are for readers specific to the U.K.

I also want to let you know about my upcoming books: The Wing Family: From England to the American Colonies will be published in time for Christmas purchases; the first two books of the Guinness the Therapy Dog series should be available by February of next year.

These new books will be picture books. The Wing Family: From England to the American Colonies features the illustrations of Emma Crick, who is a very talented artist from England. She is scheduled to illustrate the Guinness the Therapy Dog books as well.

Check back on this website for release dates and special pricing deals. Sonja

It’s Sunday Funday!

Time to go outside!

The weekends are made for fun. So get outside and have some! Go on a hike, play in the water (like Guinness the Therapy Dog), or lay on the forest floor and stare up at the trees.

It’s still warm here in the Desert Southwest and I am waiting for cooler temps so I can hike safely (without risking heat exhaustion!). The mountainous regions of the U.S. are getting snow already, so it could be fun to make tracks down a snowy path.

Whatever you do, I hope you have fun and spend your time with good friends or family. Sonja

A Special Price Just For You!

The Fairies of Carlow: The Gilding

If you live in the UK, I’ve arranged for a special pricing event just for you. This will be for the ebook of The Fairies of Carlow: The Gilding and will start Friday, October 18. This pricing event ends on October 21, with the lowest prices available on the first day.

Take advantage of this opportunity!

You can access the pricing on Amazon.com or by using the link for the ebook on the left margin of this web page.

If you haven’t read The Gilding, I hope you enjoy it. If you have read the story of Fern, thank you!

Don’t forget that the series continues with The Outsider and The Commoner. Each book stands on its own, but there are glimpses into the futures of the fairies from the prior books. I hope you enjoy all the books!

Plus, stay tuned for a picture book that tells the story of a family who emigrated from England to Plymouth Colony in the 1600s. Tentatively titled, The Wing Family of America: From England to the American Colonies, this book is expected to be available before Christmas.

Also, I will have the first two (or more!) picture books from the series Guinness the Therapy Dog ready for purchase in the new year. This series will show how a big Bernese Mountain Dog becomes a therapy dog and all the adventures he has! I can’t wait to share his stories with you.

Looking forward to sharing with you! Sonja

Guinness the Therapy Dog

(c) 2019

In the summers here in the Desert Southwest, the monsoon rains don’t soak into the ground easily. Instead, they fill dry rivers and run downhill. Lucky for us, it gives us a chance to enjoy having flowing water run through our neighborhoods and take part in things we normally don’t have a chance to do.

One of those things is playing in the water. When I took Guinness to my favorite place, the river was flowing too quickly for safety. Happily, a small lagoon had been formed. Guinness needed some coaxing to get into the water, but he took to it very well (as you can see). Within a few minutes, he was soaking in the muddy water.

Yes, he needed a bath to get all the dirt out of his coat. But that was a good exchange for the fun of playing in the water. Plus, he gets peanut butter when he takes a bath!

You’ll see a version of this photo in an upcoming Guinness the Therapy Dog picture book.

I can’t wait to share his adventures with you! Sonja

It’s Sunday Funday!!!

What fun do you want to do today? As you prepare for another week of work or school, Sunday is the day to either relax or make a memory.

Taking a look at past posts from this week, you can imagine what I’ll be doing: I’ll be outside! I think it’s going to be too hot to go on a hike, but you will probably find me in the garden or taking a walk with Guinness the Therapy Dog. He loves his walks!

His big sister, who is actually smaller than he, has a number of health issues and can’t go for walks. She is always there to welcome us home and I have fun imagining their conversation!

“Where’d ya go?”

“Outside!”

“Duh, but where?”

“Dunno. But there were good smells everywhere!”

Have a Fun Day! Sonja

Guinness the Therapy Dog

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month (amongst others). Now, Guinness isn’t a shelter dog, but he was given to us by his first owner. We are so happy that he was released to us and we were able to give him a home. He’s been such an asset to our family!

I can’t wait for you to meet him. The picture book series, Guinness the Therapy Dog, is based on him. You’ll discover how he became a therapy dog and his job around the city. Guinness Goes to the Hospital is all about the time he spends with patients, adults and kids, who have been admitted or are in the emergency room. Guinness Goes to the Library will show you how he helps kids read. He loves his job!!!

So, gear up for October and get ready to meet Guinness. If you have a shelter dog in your family, give him or her a big squeeze! Shelter dogs are the best!

Tomorrow is also National Homemade Cookie Day. Get that mixer out and blend together some butter, sugar, and chocolate chips to celebrate the day. If you like coffee, tomorrow is also International Coffee Day, which is great with those homemade cookies.

Enjoy the first day of October! Sonja

A Favorite Thing

One of the things I miss when the weather is hot is a nice cup of tea. I have a favorite seller here in the U.S. (harney.com) and favorite blends. I typically use loose tea because I think it makes a better cup, plus, I love the ritual of spooning leaves into the pot and pouring water over them. The leaves unfurl and the aroma is fantastic.

I usually need to drink decaffeinated or herbal teas because my body loves to hold on to caffeine and keep me awake at night. And that interferes with my writing process! It’s in the dark when I’m relaxed and about to fall asleep, that problems with my plot are solved. I also “see” interesting scenes and those little details that can help a scene come to life. But sitting in front of my computer with a steaming cup of tea really makes the writing process work for me.

What works for you?

Have a cup with me! Sonja

Did You Miss It?

On Tuesday, I ran a free eBook promotion for Book 2, The Outsider. Were you able to get a copy? If not, don’t worry. The eBook is always available for purchase. If you like hard copies, each title is available in that format as well.

I run lots of promotions for the eBook versions of the Fairies of Carlow series. Keep an eye on the website for announcements. All the books, in hard copy and eBook, are available at Amazon.com. You can find the links in the left-hand margin of my home page.

These books are written for those of you who can read chapter books. Some of the words may need to be looked up in the dictionary, but it’s fun to learn new words!

If you, or someone you know, prefers picture books, then stay tuned! I have a book coming that takes a glimpse into America’s and England’s history–and introduces you to a family that was instrumental in the formation of the United States.

Plus, I’ll be introducing Guinness the Therapy Dog to you in a series of picture books. He’s a big lovebug and can’t wait to meet you.

There is so much happening! Sonja

Guinness’ Paws

Guinness the Therapy Dog has the biggest paws in the world! He has a problem controlling them sometimes and frequently steps on my feet. That hurts! He’s always sorry and feels bad when his toenails scrape the tops of my feet. Guinness is a good dog.

Guinness is small for his breed and gender, but his feet are regular sized. I think that’s why he can be so clumsy and adorable. His series of picture books will be out soon, so keep an eye out for an announcement!

Enjoy your day, Sonja
